CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines  —  No jeepney fare increase has been implemented in Northern Mindanao, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) warned drivers and operators in the region yesterday.

Aminoden Guro, LTFRB regional director, said they have been receiving complaints that some jeepney drivers have increased their fare by P3 to P5.

Guro said the P1 provisional fare increase that the LTFRB approved recently is effective  only in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Calabarzon.

“The fares that we have approved for Northern Mindanao remain. There is no increase in fares anywhere in the region,” Guro said.

He said those collecting more than what the LTFRB  regional office has approved would be fined ranging from P5,000 to P15,000.
