MANILA, Philippines — Two women were shot dead in a sari-sari store in Quezon City on Sunday night.
Aracele Alvarez, 49, and a still unidentified victim were shot at the store along Bonifacio street in Barangay Pasong Tamo at around 7:45 p.m.
Witnesses said they saw two men stop in front of Alvarez’s store and pretend to be customers.
One of the men then shot Alvarez several times before fleeing the area. She was declared dead on arrival at the Malvar General Hospital.
The other victim died at the scene after she was hit by a stray bullet in the head.
Probers said Alvarez had been receiving death threats before the attack.
The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City police.
