MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Makati has halted the construction of at least 21 structures for failing to comply with the National Building Code of the Philippines, an official said yesterday.
Mayor Abby Binay said there were six projects halted in Barangay Cembo, three in East Rembo, two in West Rembo and one each in Palanan, Kasilawan, Poblacion, Pinagkaisahan, San Isidro and San Lorenzo.
She also said one construction project each in Barangays Guadalupe Nuevo, Pitogo, Bangkal and San Antonio were also temporarily stopped for violating the building code.
“We reiterate the need to secure a building permit before doing any construction or renovation work to ensure that it conforms to all safety standards,” Binay said.
She emphasized that the construction of the structures may resume soon after owners have secured the necessary permits.
