MANILA, Philippines — A total of 341 persons were rounded up in Quezon City since Friday for allegedly violating ordinances and other laws.

Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr., director of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), said 87 are minors who were “rescued” for violating the city’s curfew ordinance.

Among the other violations are drinking liquor in a public place, smoking in public and walking half-naked along the streets.

Esquivel clarified the persons were accosted for violations and not because of loitering.

The anti-crime operations were conducted from 5 a.m. Friday until 5 a.m. yesterday.

Esquivel said 165 persons were accosted in barangays under the jurisdiction of QCPD Station 8 in Project 4. Of this number, 143 were apprehended for jaywalking.

The second police station which had the most number is QCPD Station 6 in Batasan, where 51 people were taken into custody, including 42 minors for violating curfew hours.

Meanwhile, police officers from Stations 11 and 3 accosted 30 persons each.

The others were taken into custody by policemen from other police stations in the city.
