QCPD gets patrol cars, assault rifles from QC government
MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government turned over 25 patrol vehicles and 100 assault rifles to the local police yesterday.
Mayor Herbert Bautista led the turnover of the cars and guns to boost law enforcement capabilities of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
Bautista urged QCPD officials to maintain peace and order in the city.
He also asked Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde, who attended the turnover ceremony, to continue the purging of erring policemen.
QCPD director Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel said the patrol cars would be distributed to the headquarters and four police stations.
This is the latest batch of vehicles and guns donated by the city government to the QCPD.
Last month, the local government turned over 1,250 semi-automatic pistols and three sport utility vehicles to the city police.
The QCPD received 50 patrol vehicles and 150 motorcycles from the city government last year.
