MANILA, Philippines — Reelectionist Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada yesterday announced that his running mate would be former District 5 congressman Amado Bagatsing for the 2019 midterm elections.
In an interview with The STAR, Estrada, who is running for his third and last consecutive term, said he chose Bagatsing because he topped the survey conducted for vice mayor in Manila and their platforms of governance jibed.
Estrada also said that he believed in the integrity, credibility and capability of Bagatsing to handle the second highest elective position in Manila.
Estrada is the founding chairman of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) while Bagatsing heads the Kabalikat ng Bayan sa Kaunlaran (KABAKA) party.
He earlier said the PMP and KABAKA will enter into a coalition for the 2019 elections.
