'Domeng' continues to intensify, brings rains over Luzon, Visayas
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Domeng continued to intensify on Saturday morning as it continued to move in a northeast direction.
In a severe weather bulletin issued at 11 in the morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that "Domeng" packed maximum sustained winds of up to 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph.
“At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm ‘DOMENG’ was estimated based on all available data at 565 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes,” the weather agency said in its latest bulletin.
According to PAGASA, the weather system is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat, which will bring rains over Luzon and western Visayas for the next two days.
Residents of these areas are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flashfloods and landslides.
Sea travel is risky over the eastern seaboard of northern Luzon and the western seaboard of southern Luzon and central Luzon, PAGASA added.
"Domeng" is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday morning.
