2 Turkish men nabbed at NAIA for fake passports
MANILA, Philippines — Two Turkish men were arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 on May 30 as they were about to leave for Canada on fake Bulgarian passports.
Kemal Lok, 52, and Yilmaz Aydogan, 47, tried to leave barely four days after arriving in Manila as tourists using their Turkish passports, according to a report by Bureau of Immigration port operations chief Marc Red Mariñas.
For their trip to Canada, both men carried approved Electronic Travel Authorizations tas their entry visa, which investigators said were fraudulently obtained through misrepresentation.
Mariñas said the two foreigners hid their Turkish passports in their luggage.
“This is just the latest in a series of apprehensions of illegal aliens whose trips were facilitated by illegal syndicates attempting to use Manila as a jump-off point to enter Canada,” he reported.
The Turks are being held at the BI Detention Center in Taguig City.
