Fire hits Paco slum area

MANILA, Philippines — At least 15 houses were destroyed when a fire broke out at a slum area in Paco, Manila yesterday afternoon.

Arson probers said the fire started at the house of a man known only as Galang along Anakbayan street at around 2:30 p.m.

Senior Inspector Reden Alumno of the Manila fire department said the blaze was declared under control an hour later.

Alumno said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

Damage to property was placed at P150,000.
