Body of Filipino student killed in Ireland flown home
CLARK FREEPORT, Philippines — The remains of Jastine Valdez, a Filipina college student reportedly kidnapped and killed in Ireland, was set to arrive at the Clark International Airport yesterday.
Jojo Due of the Clark International Airport Corp. said the plane carrying Valdez’s body was expected to arrive at around 8:30 p.m.
“Please be advised that the parents of Ms. Valdez have asked the Philippine honorary consul in Dublin Mark Congdon to deliver a statement on their behalf,” the advisory read.
Valdez’s remains will be brought to her hometown in Nueva Vizcaya, where she will be buried.
Valdez was last seen being dragged into a black car in Wicklow County on May 19. Her body was found near Dublin the following day.
The suspect, described by an Irish newspaper as a “psycho killer,” was identified as Mark Hennessy, 41. He was shot dead after he allegedly tried to stab a police officer who tried to arrest him for the kidnapping. – Pia Lee-Brago
