Boracay road clearing operations 80% complete
MANILA, Philippines — Clearing operations along the Boracay circumferential road is 80 percent complete, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways.
DPWH Western Visayas Director Wenceslao Leaño yesterday said 4.2 kilometers of the 5.2-km road had been cleared of obstructions.
Leaño said some trees were uprooted and transferred to widen the road.
He said they would start road diggings to install drainage pipes when all obstructions are removed.
“This part of the Boracay circumferential road is often flooded because it either does not have drainage pipes or the drainage system is clogged,” Leaño said.
