Maguindanao provincial jail guards shoot inmate dead

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Jail guards at the Maguindanao provincial jail in this city shot dead an inmate who reportedly bolted his cell along with six others before dawn yesterday.

Mike Balitoc, who was detained for murder, died at the scene, according to Superintendent Aldrin Gonzalez, spokesman for the Police Regional Office 12.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the six inmates, identified as Dante Kadatuan, Guli Mangandong, Sindatuk Ampatua, Saddam Montani, Aminodin Maliga and Turagsak Sabal.
