Cash grant worth P2.7 million for Ifugao CCT beneficiaries stolen

Artemio Dumlao - The Philippine Star

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Robbers carted away P2.7 million in cash intended for beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in Tinoc, Ifugao on Tuesday.

Three personnel of the Cordillera social welfare office were on their way to deliver the cash when they were robbed at gunpoint in Barangay Julongan, Kiangan town.

The three – Marlon Padolnaton Guimangad, Chester Bulayo Guazon and Jeffrey Humiwat Buhyag – were on separate motorcycles when three men on another motorcycle blocked their path in Sitio Awa.

The robbers were wearing masks, according to case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Berito Dulnuan Jr.

Since there are no banks in Tinoc, the social welfare office had to use motorcycles to deliver the cash to the beneficiaries.– Victor Martin
