MANILA, Philippines — Light Rail Transit Line 1 is seeking to increase its fares by an average of P5 to P7, LRT-1 operator Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) announced yesterday.

LRMC president and chief executive officer Juan Alfonso said the company has filed a petition for a fare hike last March.

Alfonso said the petition, if approved, would mean a fare increase of up to P7 for the end-to-end trip of the LRT-1 covering Roosevelt station in Quezon City until Baclaran station in Pasay City.

To date, the end-to-end fare for the LRT-1 is P30.
