MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Imus, Cavite on Sunday morning announced that it is conducting clearing operations on the collapsed portion of a flyover under construction at the corner of Aguinaldo Highway and Daang Hari.

“The whole clearing operations team of the city government of Imus is on site now to ensure that Aguinaldo highway will be passable as soon as possible,” Imus City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi said in a Facebook advisory.

The local government of Imus is conducting the clearing operations in coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways. The City Engineering Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Imus Traffic Management Office, Philippine National Police of Imus, Bureau of Fire Protection of Imus and barangay emergency responders are also helping the contractor to hasten the clearing operations.

 The clearing operation is expected to end on Sunday afternoon.

Maliksi said the center portion of the flyover under construction collapsed early Sunday.

“Bumagsak ang gitnang bahagi ng ginagawang flyover habang ikinakabit sa mga pundasyon o poste ang gitnang bahagi nito,” Maliksi said.

The city mayor said the local government is coordinating with the Philippine National Police and Imus Traffic Management Office and City Disaster Risk Managament Office on an investigation into the flyover collapse.

Due to the incident, the local government dsignated alternative routes for motorists.

Light vehicles may pass through the following roads:

  • Anabu Road (Anabu Kostal Road and Pasong Santol Road)
  • Malagasang Road (Anabu Kostal Road and Golden City Road)

Trucks and buses, on the other hand, may pass through Salitran Road going to Molino-Paliparan Road and Molino Boulevard and vice versa.

Maliksi asked for the public’s understanding amid the inconvenience caused by the road construction.
