BI hit for revoking Aussie nun’s visa

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Political detainees have slammed the Bureau of Immigrations (BI)’s move to revoke the missionary visa of Australian nun Patricia Fox.

Political prisoners being held at the BI Special Intensive Care Area-1 jail facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig expressed dismay over the BI’s decision to deport Fox.

Fox’s visa was revoked by the BI last week. She was compelled to leave the country within 30 days from the receipt of the order.

She has been in the country for 27 years.

The political prisoners also hit President Duterte’s apparent move to persecute foreigners involved in advancing the plight of the poor.

The 71-year-old nun was arrested by BI agents on April 16 for allegedly joining rallies against the government. She was released the following day.

The BI said Fox violated the country’s immigration law by joining protest actions.

Her alien certificate of registration was also cancelled by the bureau.
