MANILA, Philippines — At least 173 people were arrested for smoking in public places during simultaneous police operations in eastern Metro Manila on Tuesday.
Of the number, Eastern Police District director Chief Superintendent Rey Biay said 150 individuals were rounded up in Pasig, 20 in Marikina and three in Mandaluyong.
They violated Executive Order 26 signed by President Duterte in May last year, which bans smoking in public places nationwide.
Police also accosted 37 individuals for roaming in the streets half-naked and 29 others for drinking and urinating in public places.
