MANILA, Philippines — Accused investment scammer Xian Gaza was released after just a day in jail after he posted bail on Friday in his case involving bouncing checks.
In a Facebook post, Gaza posted a certificate of discharge from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology certifying that he has posted his P126,000 bail for 19 counts of violations of the anti-bouncing checks law, after the Malabon Metropolitan Trial Court Branches 56 and 120 ordered his arrest.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Filipino public for all the hate, love and support that I received for the last few days – most especially to those God-sent angels who helped me get back to the free society. I’m now ready for a new life, lead me Lord,” Gaza said.
He proudly called himself an “ex-con,” a “national scammer,” and a “young ‘fraudigy’” on his Facebook account.
He faces 11 counts for failing to pay back Melinda Cruz at least P2 million he borrowed from her and eight counts for not paying P600,000 to his former business partner Jaime Asuncion.
