MANILA, Philippines — Outgoing Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa yesterday vowed to stop the illegal drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa.
Dela Rosa, who is set to assume his new post as director of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) next week, said he would “accomplish a feat not achieved by his predecessors.”
“I will succeed, mark my word. As to how I will do it, just use your wild imagination. I will not be defeated by these drug lords,” he told reporters.
Dela Rosa said after accounting for all the drug lords at the national penitentiary, he would ask them to swear by the Bible to stop their illegal trade.
He also warned BuCor jail guards involved in corruption to stop their illegal activities.
Meanwhile, Dela Rosa advised his successor, National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde, to love his subordinates if he wants to have a successful stint in the PNP.
