War veterans get free MRT rides
MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) is offering free rides to Filipino war veterans until April 11 as part of the observance of Araw ng Kagitingan or the Day of Valor.
The MRT-3 said veterans need to present their valid identification cards from the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office.
Meanwhile, the MRT-3 has deployed more operational trains during peak hours following the five-day maintenance work last week.
MRT-3 director for operations Michael Capati said 16 trains were deployed at around 7:24 p.m. on Thursday with an estimated headway of 5.5 minutes, which shortened the waiting time and long lines of commuters at the MRT stations.
The MRT-3 shut down its operation during the Holy Week break for the repair of trains and rail tracks.
