MMDA to test new traffic scheme
MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is set to hold a dry run starting tomorrow of its new scheme to address the traffic problem along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
Bong Nebrija, MMDA supervising operations officer, said all public utility vehicles coming from Elliptical Road will turn left on Masaya street, which will become a one-way road, to Maginhawa street going to Commonwealth Avenue while Maginhawa to Commonwealth will become a two-way route.
The MMDA’s rerouting measure came after heavy traffic was reported along the avenue last Monday after the construction of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 started last week.
Nebrija said the MMDA will need to conduct further studies to determine the effects of the rerouting plan before finalizing the scheme for implementation on April 9.
