GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines — None of the officers in the Police Regional Office-12 tested positive for narcotics in a drug test Wednesday.

Chief Inspector Aldrin Gonzalez, spokesman of PRO-12, said Thursday the officers who complied with the procedure were led by their regional director, Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales.

"No one from us tested positive for use of methamphetamine hydrochloride," Gonzalez said.

Methamphetamine hydrochloride is also known as shabu. It is unclear whether officers were tested for other drugs, but most tests screen for methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine, opioids and PCP, according to the US National Center for Biotechnology Information.

The drug testing for all officers in PRO-12 was administered by personnel of the regional police crime laboratory.

Twelve members of PRO-12 tested positive for drugs during a massive testing procedure two years ago.

They were immediately meted with corresponding punitive action by the regional police command.

"None tested positive to drugs in 2017 and subsequently in the drug testing we had for 2018,” Gonzalez said.
