PDEA informants get P7.5-M reward
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) yesterday gave around P7.5 million in cash to six civilian informants under its Operation Private Eye (OPE) program.
PDEA director general Aaron Aquino handed out the rewards to the eight informants identified by their code names as Krugger, Jacpat, Mata, Keeper, BI-1 and Highway Man.
“The Operation Private Eye is a citizen-based information collection program designed to encourage the active participation of private citizens to report illegal drug activities in their communities,”Aquino said.
The informants, who wore masks and sunglasses to conceal their identities, received their cash incentives at the PDEA headquarters in Quezon City.
Krugger received P2 million for his tip that led to the arrest of two drug suspects and seizure of 162.55 kilos of shabu in San Juan City in December 2016.
Jacpat got P1.8 million for the information he provided that led to the arrest of two drug suspects and confiscation of 76,695.70 grams of shabu in Manila in January 2016.
Mata received P1.5 million after he supplied information that led to the arrest of four suspected drug traffickers and the seizure of 29,883.88 grams of shabu on June 2016 in Claveria, Cagayan.
For providing information that led to the arrest a drug suspect and seizure of 28,564.07 grams of shabu, Keeper received P1.4 million.
BI-1 received P502,779.19 for his tip, which led to the arrest of six drug offenders and the confiscation of 19 ecstasy tablets, 17,994.3 grams of marijuana and the dismantling of a shabu laboratory in Barangay Hulo, Mandaluyong City in November 2017.
Highway Man got P174,256.40 for his tip, which led to the arrest of 13 drug suspects and confiscation of 74,945.1 grams of marijuana leaves and 12,183.1 grams of marijuana stalks in Kapangan, Benguet.
