LTFRB suspends Dimple Star's entire bus fleet
March 23, 2018 | 12:27pm
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board ordered the preventive suspension of all 118 Dimple Star buses, following the fatal road crash in Occidental Mindoro.
The preventive suspension order is effective for not more than 30 days.
The suspension stemmed from the gross negligence committed by the operator in the management and the poor maintenance of buses.
LTFRB earlier suspended 10 bus units operating from San Jose, Occidental Mindoro to Manila.
The board required Dimple Star to inspect the roadworthiness of its buses and for its drivers and conductors to attend road safety seminars and undergo compulsory drug tests.
At least 19 people were killed when a bus with plate number TYU 708 careened off a road and fell into a ravine in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro Tuesday night.
After the accident, Sen. Grace Poe renewed her call for the creation of a safety board that would probe transportation-related accidents.
