MANILA, Philippines — The barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections should proceed on May 14 despite a decision of the House of Representatives to reset it for the third time, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said yesterday.
Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said the House decision to postpone the polls does not officially cancel the elections.
“Without a law officially postponing it, the BSKE2018 is still considered a go,” Jimenez said, adding the poll body will not stop the preparations for the twin elections.
The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting said the repeated poll postponement might make voters lose interest in the elections.
