BAGUIO CITY , Philippines — The number of dengue cases in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) has increased by 75 percent since January, health authorities reported yesterday.
Geeny Anne Austria of the CAR’s regional epidemiology and surveillance unit said 582 cases and two deaths were reported compared to only 332 cases and one death during the same period last year.
Kalinga reported 178 cases; Benguet, 130; Baguio City, 71; Apayao, 59; Abra, 43; Ifugao, 16; Mountain Province, 10, and non-CAR provinces, 75.
The victims are between three months to 83 years old, a majority or at least 321 of them males.
