MANILA, Philippines — The police Highway Patrol Group (HPG) yesterday launched a text hotline where the public can send information on road safety concerns.
In partnership with Smart Communications Inc. (SMI), the HPG launched TXT Hotline 7444 474, a platform where for P1 per text message, the public can report accidents, car thefts, robberies and other concerns on the road.
HPG director Chief Superintendent Arnel Escobal said their operators can receive and send information provided by citizens in real time.
“Our operations can send it to concerned units, which can take immediate action,” Escobal told reporters in an interview after the signing of the memorandum of agreement and launching of the hotline at Camp Crame.
