Quezon City fire leaves 300 families homeless

MANILA, Philippines — At least 300 families were left homeless when a fire hit a residential area in Quezon City early yesterday morning.

Fire officials said the blaze broke out at a three-story house owned by Purificacion Buenafe along Agno street in Barangay Tatalon at around 3:54 a.m.

Buenafe suffered second degree burns.

The fire reached the fifth alarm and destroyed a total of 100 houses.

Firefighters contained the fire at around 5:56 a.m.

City fire marshal Senior Superintendent Manuel Manuel said a phone charger left unattended could have caused the blaze. 

Damage to property was placed at P1 million.
