MANILA, Philippines — A Customs broker was ambushed by motorcycle-riding assailants in Caloocan City yesterday.
Raymond Aniceto, 26, was driving his Honda City to work when he was attacked along D. Aquino street, between 3rd and 4th Avenues, at around 7:14 a.m.
A closed-circuit television footage showed that two men on a motorcycle drove up beside the vehicle on the driver’s side before the backrider shot Aniceto’s head twice right in the temple through the window.
Senior Inspector Dave Anthony Capurcos, commander of Caloocan Police Community Precinct 2, said they would look into the victim’s work as a customs broker as a motive for the killing.
Aniceto worked as a liaison officer and broker for Maersk company and was a resident of Barangay 36 in Caloocan, police said.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Jemar Modequillo added that police would also check the victim’s cell phone for any leads.
“Wala po siyang kaaway. Napakabait pong bata yan (He had no enemies. He was a good son),” the victim’s father Ray told reporters.
Aniceto graduated from the Lyceum of the Philippines with a bachelor’s degree in customs administration and was taking a master’s degree in business administration at De La Salle University.
