Kerwin Espinosa’s slain lawyer buried
MANILA, Philippines — The slain lawyer of self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa was buried in Ronda town, Cebu yesterday.
Wearing black and white shirts, the family and friends of Jonah John Ungab expressed fear that his murder might remain unsolved.
Ungab, who was also vice mayor of Ronda, was killed after attending a court hearing for a case of violation of the elections gun ban filed against Espinosa.
He was with his wife Pearl when motorcycle-riding men ambushed them along S. Osmeña Boulevard in Cebu City on Feb. 19.
The assailants did not harm Pearl.
Ungab’s brother Jonald Gracio urged the municipal council to allot P500,000 as reward for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the assailants.
A task force composed of different police units has been formed to investigate the case.
Probers have yet to identify the assailants. – The Freeman
