MANILA, Philippines — The body of a 28-year-old Filipina who died in a magnitude-6.4 earthquake in Taiwan arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) yesterday.
Melody Castro’s remains were flown from Taipei.
Her remains will be transported to her hometown in Tuguegarao City, officials said.
Castro was found in a rubble of a building in Hualien.
Gary Song-Huann Lin of the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office said they would give P2 million in assistance to the family of Castro.
The Manila Economic and Cultural Office and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration will shoulder the burial expenses.
