Bataan mayor Antonio Raymundo's supporters barricade town hall
ORION, Bataan — Supporters of the mayor of this town, who was suspended by the Office of the Ombudsman, have barricaded the municipal hall.
Antonio Raymundo’s supporters have camped out on the ground and second floors of the municipal hall and put up tents in front of the building since Friday last week.
They also held a rally in protest of Raymundo’s suspension.
Raymundo reported for work yesterday, saying he is waiting for the ruling of the Court of the Appeals on his petition for a temporary restraining order on his suspension.
Raymundo vowed to exhaust all legal remedies even as he promised to abide by the decision of the appellate court.
The ombudsman suspended Raymundo for nine months after he was found guilty of oppression.
The order stemmed from the complaint filed by municipal budget officer Carmelita Waje after Raymundo ordered her to vacate her office and placed her on floating status in 2013.
Waje said Raymundo replaced her after she was accused of malversation of public funds amounting to P400,000.
She said Raymundo refused to give her representation and transportation allowances and did not provide her any office equipment.
