MANILA, Philippines — At least 52 additional fireworks display areas for the Christmas and New Year celebration in Bulacan have been identified.

Vacant lots in Barangays Camangyan, Caysio, Mahabang Parang, Parada and Pulong Buhangin in Sta. Maria town  were among those designated as fireworks zones.

In San Jose del Monte, the municipal government identified vacant lots in Sitios Gipit, Libis, Centro Hulo, Manok, Gulod II, San Vicente, Silangan as well as basketball courts in Sitios Gulod, Pisang, Pangarap and Tabing Ilog where fireworks display can be held.

An area in the compound of SM in Marilao and a vacant space near the public market in Barangay Poblacion in Pandi were also designated as fireworks zones.

In San Rafael, officials said 11 basketball courts in various barangays are among the 32 fireworks display areas.

Eighteen areas had been earlier identified as common fireworks zones in the province.

President Duterte issued Executive Order 28 last June regulating the use of fireworks and pyrotechnics.

The EO mandates local officials to issue permits indicating the date, time and specific areas where fireworks displays can be held.

With only a few days left before the Christmas and New Year revelry, police officials were ordered to coordinate with village leaders in identifying firecracker zones.

The use of pyrotechnic devices such as luces and trompillo  outside residences is still allowed subject to existing laws, rules and regulations.
