Gov't work, classes in all levels suspended in Manila on October 30
MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Joseph "Erap" Estrada announced the suspension of government work and classes in all levels in the city on October 30, Monday.
Estrada made the announcement through an advisory sent to members of the press. He said he called off government work and classes to give way to All Saint’s Day on November 1.
The Manila mayor said government employees engaged in public and health services such as disaster, DPS engineering, Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau and the Health department are exempt from the suspension.
“Private work/offices suspension are left to their discretion,” the advisory read.
Malacañang earlier declared October 31 and November 1 as a holiday.
