BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – A female member of the New People’s Army (NPA) has surrendered to authorities in Alcala, Cagayan, officials said yesterday.

Belly Joy Malazzab, alias Bibeth Sibayan, 29, surrendered to the Army’s 17th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Masin with the help of the Naval Intelligence Support Unit-12, Naval Intelligence Security Group and the Army’s Military Intelligence Company, according to Lt. Col. Camilo Saddam, chief of the 17th IB.

A former logistics officer of the NPA, Malazzab will receive assistance from the government under the comprehensive local integration program, Saddam said.

Earlier, 11 insurgents surrendered to authorities in Ilocos Sur and Abra.
