6 hurt in landmine attack

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – Five policemen were wounded when a landmine exploded in Maddela, Quirino on Friday.

Police Officers 2 Sonny Tadeo, Artemio Vino and Vicente Macabadbad and PO1s Omli Bruno and Marvin Cabanilla of the Quirino Provincial Public Safety Company were in a Toyota Hilux when a landmine believed to be planted by New People’s Army (NPA) rebels exploded in Barangay Diduyon, Maddela at about 3:10 p.m.

Farmer Jolly Juan, 60, who was in his farm around 30 meters away from the scene, was also wounded in the  blast.

The victims were taken to the Quirino Medical Center in Cabbaroguis town for treatment.

On Tuesday, six soldiers were wounded in another landmine attack also by suspected NPA rebels in Purok Abbag, Barangay Dipantin, Nagtipunan.
