Davao del Norte’s grand Golden Jubilee slated on July 1

Festivity is filling the air of Davao del Norte as the province gears for a grand 50th Founding Anniversary on July 1.

With the theme "Bulawanong Paghinumdum, Bulawanong Panlantaw (Golden Commemoration, Golden Vision)," the golden jubilee highlights the evolution, development and achievements of the province over the last 50 years, as well as celebrates the Dabaonons' proud heritage, multicultural identity, resiliency and creativity.

"It is a celebration of the many successes of the Dabaonon people and their bullishness about the future," beamed Gov. Anthony del Rosario who also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead his people on the significant milestone.

Activities for the nine-day festivity will officially start on Friday, June 23, while President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to grace the anniversary program on July 1, according to Gov. Del Rosario.

Kadagayaan Festival 2017 will also be launched and will feature Agri-aqua Trade Fair, Tourism Fair, and exhibits, among others. It will pay homage to the richness of the Daboanon culture and traditions, as well as the bountiful harvest for the past five decades.

Other events include the Binibining DavNor Pageant that flaunts the beauty, brains and talent of the Dabaonon women; the Hudyaka Street Dancing and Grand Showdown to be participated by different groups all over Mindanao; the MUSAMAN TriDavNor National Triathlon that promotes healthier lifestyle while showcasing the scenic beauty of the province; Davao Aguilas Footbal games; and nightly activities and variety shows.  

The anniversary day will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display and the Kadagayaan Wet and Wild Party.

And because the week-long festivity is not enough to honor the rich history, culture and heritage of the province, Del Rosario will also herald a year-long Golden Jubilee celebration. This will feature a wide range of celebratory activities that will conclude on July 1, 2018.
