MANILA, Philippines - The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has approved the recruitment of 14,448 new police officers.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will recruit 10,000 policemen under the regular recruitment quota and 4,484 under attrition recruitment as provided under Resolution 2017-321 approved on June 2, said Rogelio Casurao, Napolcom vice chairman.

Casurao said the attrition recruitment quota aims to replenish personnel losses because of retirement, separation from service or death.

He said the recruitment would also improve peace and order in areas covered by PNP regional and national support offices.

Casurao said 9,360 of the new recruits would be distributed to various regional police offices. The rest will  be deployed to the maritime group, headquarters support service, information technology management services, police community relations group, Aviation Security Group and Women and Children’s Protection Center.

Those interested to join the police force can file their applications at the National Capital Region Police Office at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City and at PNP regional offices.

PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa earlier said the PNP has a strength of around 175,000 officers and personnel.
