2 soldiers killed in Davao City clash

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Two soldiers were killed and six others wounded in an encounter with New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Sitio Bajada, Paradise Embac, Paquibato District in this city on Sunday.

The identities of the fatalities were withheld pending notification of their respective families. The wounded were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Soldiers belonging to the 16th Infantry Battalion were responding to reports on the presence of NPA rebels when the clash occurred, according to the Eastern Mindanao Command.

The soldiers recovered a rifle, ammunition, three bags and personal belongings at the scene.
