LAGUNA, Philippines — Two Japanese nationals were reported missing while vacationing in Coron, Palawan Tuesday afternoon, police said Thursday.
Police identified the missing tourists as Itani Masaru, 59 and Arai Yoshihiro, 24.
According to report, the two left their hotel for an island hopping last May 30 at around 11:00 a.m. but failed to return.
The two were staying at GMG Hotel located in Barangay 2, Coron, Palawan when the incident happened.
GMG hotel staff Ning Perez reported the incident to the Coron Municipal Police Station on May 31 at around 3:00 p.m.
In response, personnel of Coron MPS in coordination with other concerned agencies immediately conducted a search and rescue operation to locate the possible whereabouts of the missing Japanese nationals.
