MANILA, Philippines - Police are eyeing a labor dispute as the motive for the killings of a councilor and his wife in Teresa, Rizal on Monday.
John San Jose, 49, and his wife Ma. Theresa, 44, were in a Mitsubishi Montero with their daughter Jaydee Ansherina, 20, on their way to attend her graduation at the Rizal Technological University in Mandaluyong when they were waylaid near a bridge in Sitio Uno, Barangay Dalig at around 7 a.m.
Senior Superintendent Albert Ocon, Rizal police director, said the task force created to investigate the killings received information that Ma. Theresa, who was a consultant of the First Teresa Rubber Corp., (not San Jose as earlier reported) dismissed several workers of the company.
“May matinding galit dito sa mag-asawa, tinadtad ng bala ang sasakyan nila (Whoever did this was extremely angry with the couple. Their car was riddled with bullets),” Ocon said.
Chief Superintendent MaO Aplasca, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police director, said they would take the statement of the daughter of the couple, who survived the attack.
Aplasca said the family of the victims begged off from issuing a statement to the police as they are still finalizing burial plans for the couple.
