MANILA, Philippines - Police killed two suspected drug pushers in an alleged shootout in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City before dawn yesterday.
The fatalities, known only as Toto and Ryan, died at the scene from gunshots to the body.
Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Tomas Apolinario said the suspects were supposed to sell shabu to a police officer who posed as a buyer.
When they sensed they were dealing with police, the suspects opened fire, prompting authorities to return fire.
Police said they conducted the sting after receiving information that Toto and Ryan were allegedly pushing drugs at Puyat Compound.
Probers said they recovered 10 sachets of shabu, a loaded .38-caliber revolver, .22-caliber revolver, a digital weighing scale and drug paraphernalia from the suspects.
Drug arrests
Four persons were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Caloocan and Malabon on Monday.
Operatives of the Caloocan police apprehended Michael Martinez while allegedly holding a sachet of shabu along Del Pilar street in Barangay 63 at around 4 p.m.
Rowex Almerol, 24, was nabbed for alleged shabu possession in another drug sting.
Police said they recovered from Almerol two sachets of shabu and the marked money.
Fidelis Lanchenal, 37, was nabbed by anti-narcotics agents in a sting along Estrella street in Barangay Tanong, Malabon at around 5:30 p.m.
Lanchenal allegedly yielded three sachets of shabu.
Members of the Malabon Police Community Precinct 4 chanced upon Raymund Ruiz, 38, walking in the street half naked. When frisked, he allegedly yielded a pack of shabu.
