MANILA, Philippines - Two men allegedly involved in illegal drugs and carjacking were slain in an encounter with police in Caloocan City at dawn yesterday.
Police have yet to identify the suspects, who died at the scene from gunshots to the body.
Senior Police Officer 4 Joel Montebon said they recovered a .45-caliber pistol and a .38-caliber revolver from the suspects.
Prior to the shootout, real estate agent Raymond dela Peña, 20, reported to the Police Community Precinct (PCP) 4 that his motorcycle was stolen along Aquamarine street in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan at around 1 a.m.
Minutes after leaving the PCP, Dela Peña spotted two men on his motorcycle along Domato street in Barangay 188, prompting him to return to the police station.
Authorities chased the suspects. But instead of surrendering, the suspects opened fire, prompting police to return fire.
