MANILA, Philippines - A train of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) claimed another life after it hit a beautician in Sampaloc, Manila on Saturday.
Police identified the fatality as Marvic de la Cruz, 34, of San Jose del Monte in Bulacan.
It was the third accident involving PNR trains last month alone.
Senior Police Officer 1 Christopher David of the Manila Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit said De la Cruz was crossing the rail tracks at the corner of Maria Clara and Antipolo streets when an approaching train struck him.
De la Cruz died at the scene.
Train driver Arjon Catura said he stepped on the brakes but it was too late.
