3 hurt in Makati fire

MANILA, Philippines -  A fireman and two residents were injured while 14 families were left homeless after a fire of unknown origin broke out in a residential area in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Makati City yesterday morning. 

Fire Officer 1 Randy Cuintas, Raymond Tan and Allen Capria sustained injuries while trying to put out the fire, city fire marshal Superintendent Roy Aguto said. 

The fire broke out at around 11:28 a.m. at the second floor of Anita and Gorgonio Santiago’s house. 

Aguto said at least 14 houses were gutted by the fire, which reached third alarm at around 12:30 p.m. and was put out at around 1:44 p.m.  He estimated the fire damage at around P500,000.
