3 dead in road mishaps

MANILA, Philippines - Three persons were killed in road accidents in La Union and Quezon on Saturday.

Dan Lester Baladad, 28, was driving his motorcycle along the national road in Barangay Quinavite in Bauang town when it collided with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that also hit a tricycle at around 11:50 p.m.

Tricycle driver Elijah Danniel Sarmiento, 21, was injured and taken to the Ilocos Training Regional Medical Center.

John Carlo Piamonte and his unidentified companion died when their motorcycle was hit by a Toyota Hi-Ace Grandia along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Malabanban in Candelaria.

The drivers of the SUV and van were arrested.
