NPA leader nabbed, 10 surrender

MANILA, Philippines - A leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in Barangay Casantaan in Sto. Tomas, La Union on Sunday while 10 others surrendered on Monday.

Johnny Obena, alias Rodat, a logistics officer of an NPA platoon operating in Ilocos Sur and Abra, was collared  based on five warrants for frustrated murder and attempted murder issued by Candon City Regional Trial Court Judge Policarpio Martinez. 

In Ifugao, 10 NPA rebels surrendered to Grace Tabayan, chairwoman of Barangay Namal and Vice Mayor Tomas Pullupul in Asipulo, Ifugao.

The rebels, who are members of the Nona del Rosario Command, turned over their firearms to the 54th Infantry Battalion.
