Man nabbed for bomb joke

MANILA, Philippines - A 20-year-old man was arrested for joking that he was carrying a bomb in his bag while entering a mall in Caloocan City on Saturday night.

Haroeh Lagat, of Martin street, Barangay Santolan in Malabon, was about to enter the Victory mall in Monumento when security guard Luningning Emperado asked him to open his bag for inspection.

Lagat told Emperado that there was a bomb in his bag, Senior Inspector Ilustre Mendoza, Caloocan police assistant chief for operations, said.

The security guard immediately sought police assistance, resulting in Lagat’s arrest.

Police said making bomb jokes is a crime and penalized under Presidential Decree 1727.
