MANILA, Philippines - The suspect in a road rage shooting in Cebu City has been freed after spending two nights in jail.
David Lim Jr. posted bail of P24,000 for frustrated homicide and P120,000 for illegal possession of ammunition.
Deputy city prosecutor Maria Theresa Casiño said the frustrated murder case filed against Lim was downgraded to frustrated homicide due to the absence of a qualifying circumstance.
“After careful perusal of the evidence on hand, this office finds probable cause to indict respondent for frustrated homicide,” a joint resolution of the courts handling the cases read.
Lim was seen smiling as he waited for the judge to approve his bail. He was accompanied by his lawyer, sister and other relatives.
What special treatment?
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent Joel Doria, Cebu City police chief, belied allegations that Lim was given special treatment.
“We allowed the media at the detention cell for them to see that there was really no special treatment,” Doria said.
He said the jail officer was also relieved from his post amid reports that Lim’s bodyguards were seen in the vicinity.
