MANILA, Philippines - San Miguel Corp. (SMC) is building a network of drug rehabilitation centers in the provinces.
Aside from a rehabilitation center in Bataan, SMC through its San Miguel Foundation plans to build similar facilities in Pampanga, Cavite and Cebu.
“Rehabilitation is a crucial part of the government’s fight against illegal drugs. We commit to build more facilities across the country to help reform drug dependents especially the youth,” said Ramon Ang, SMC president and chief operating officer.
“We want to help hasten the return of former drug users to their families and as productive members of the society,” Ang said.
SMC earlier signed an agreement with officials of the Department of Health (DOH), Department of the Interior and Local Government, Bataan provincial government and non-profit organization Pilipinong May Puso Foundation Inc. to construct a rehabilitation center in Bataan.
The Bataan provincial government had identified the site of the center to be managed by the DOH.
